A True Christmas Story from the Bible

St. Luke 2:1-14

1: And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed.

2: (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)

3: And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.

4: And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)

5: To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.

6: And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.

7: And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

8: And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

9: And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

10: And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

11: For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

12: And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

13: And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

14: Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

Grandma Soma ( Mom Alice) We miss you so much at Christmas with all your beautiful celebrating of Christ's Birthday

Forgiveness, May we all remember!

"Christmas Forgiveness"

“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is
Christ the Lord”
Luke 2:11  KJV

"If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive
you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your
sins"
Scripture: Scripture: Matthew 6:14-15  NLT

One Christmas Eve in a church service an attractive young woman felt the tug
of God at her heart. She responded to God's call and accepted Jesus as her
Lord and Savior. The young woman had a very rough past, involving alcohol, drugs,
and prostitution. But, the change in her was immediate and evident. As time
went on she became a faithful member of the church.

Eventually this young lady became involved in church ministry. It was not
very long until this faithful woman caught the eye and heart of the pastor’s son.
Their relationship grew and a few months passed and they began to make
wedding plans; this is when the church problems began. You see about one half of the
church did not think that a woman with a past such as hers was suitable for a
pastor's son.

The church began to argue and fight about the matter. So they decided to have
a meeting. As the people made their arguments and tensions increased, the
meeting got completely out of hand. The young woman became very upset about
things being brought up about her past. As she began to cry the pastor's son stood
to speak. He could not bear the pain it was causing his wife to be. He said:
"My fiancée's past is not what is on trial here. What you are questioning is
the ability of Jesus to forgive sin. Today you have put Jesus on trial. So, does
He forgive sin or not?"

The whole church began to weep as they realized that they had been slandering
the Lord Jesus Christ. Too often even as Christians, we bring up the past and
use it as a weapon against our brothers and sisters. Forgiveness is a
foundational part of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. If Jesus does not forgive
us completely, then we are all in a lot of trouble.

At this festive time of year as Christmas is being celebrated and the New
Year approaches it is the right time to do for others what the Lord Jesus Christ
did for us. There is no better time to pick up the phone and call - God
Forgives... and so should we!

Prayer: Father if there is anyone I am unable to forgive please bring them to
mind and give me the strength to forgive. In the name of the Lord Jesus
Christ. Amen!

Christmas Scriptures

I see the countless Christmas trees
around the world below,
With tiny lights... like heaven's stars,
reflecting on the snow.
The sight is so spectacular,
please wipe away that tear,
For I am spending Christmas
with Jesus Christ this year.

I hear the many Christmas songs
that people hold so dear,
But the sounds of music can't compare
with the Christmas choir up here.
I have no words to tell you
the joy their voices bring...
For it is beyond description,
to hear the angels sing.

I know how much you miss me.
I see the pain inside of your heart...
But I am not so far away,
we really aren't apart.
So be happy for me dear ones.
You know how I hold you dear...
And be glad I am spending Christmas
with Jesus Christ this year.

I send you each a special gift,
from my heavenly home above.
I send you each a memory
of my undying love.
After all "LOVE" is the gift
more precious than pure gold.
It was always most important
in stories Jesus told.

Please love and keep each other near,
as my Father said to do,
For I can't count the blessings
or love He has for each of you.
So, have a Merry Christmas
and wipe away that tear.
Remember, I am spending Christmas
with Jesus Christ this year.

Memories of Trips as a little girl

You know I sat down to write
and thought of Papaw Davis,
I thought of the Christmas
in the hills of Kentucky when
snow was so soft and deep...
ah those were the days...
I remember nights staying as
a little girl, with Mamaw
rocking me in her rocking chair
with all the love she could
muster up...I remember
going to church and curling up
in a pew and falling asleep by
her side, ah those were the days.
I remember looking up at their eyes
and we would be talking and then
all of a sudden I would look up
with my bloned curls and curl up beside her
and fall asleep
...their
eyes were shut and after
praying and it was time to go to bed.
ah those were the days...
they didn't have tv there
as we did up north, they had
love though...they had joy,
and most of all they had christ,
ah those were the days...
Papaw used to take me up to his
barn when mom and dad had to leave to
go to georgia, to see the horses and
when I came back down they were gone...
ah those were the days...I loved them all...
yes, it was different then Ohio, but my
goodness the love you felt...at night
we would sing, with family, uncle Jessee
playing guitar, and
Papaw would always pray, I remember
his western hat he would wear ...he had
special sunday meeting clothes and hats for
that too...ah those were the days...
I remember the snow falling in the winter
time, I remember the pine tree Papaw would
bring down from the mountains, my aunt dot
would put paper rings of colors in all sorts
around it, ah those were the days...
Popcorn stringing came next...one time there
were sleigh tracks in the snow on Christmas
morning...ah those were the days...
you would wake up in a feathbed all cosy and
you didn't want to get up first, why because
it was so soft and cozy and warm...with lots
of homemade quilts on it...oh, yes, when we did
get up there was wood burning stove in the living
room and my goodness Papaw would have that
jolly laugh like Santa Claus...if he had a beard
well he would have Lookded like Santa...hehehe...
I still can see the snow covered mountains...
that house still stands and well, I hope
the ones that live in that beautiful hand
built house by Papaw have a similiar feeling
of Christmas as I did...that was Chirstmas
with all the wonderful meals Mamaw cooked...
hmmmmmmm I can taste it now...and the butterbeans
that she growed in the summer time well, no one
could beat her cooking...well, enough till
I decide to add more! Blessings into the memories
of Christmas on trips to see my grandparents
in them there hills in God's country!

Papaw and Mamaw Davis

Just a note: Papaw and Mamaw would have never guessed that one

day their grandaughter would live in Florida where we have no snow....

Love to my grandparents in Heaven with celebrating Jesus's Birthday there...
