This our hope to meet our loved ones with Jesus!

"For the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed" (1 Cor. 15:51-52). Again in writing to the Thessalonians he says, "we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not precede them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and the trump of God -- and the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them to meet the Lord. . . . " (1 Thess. 4:15-17).

OUR SWEET ALICE DEHAVEN

Dear Mom Alice,

I sat here thinking of you in a better place,

A place where there is no sorrow and no more tears,

As I sit here and look and listen,

It was only yesterday you went away,

I can't touch your hand, or hug you anymore cause

you are not here

only away in a land so dear,

I miss your friendship, I miss your calls,

I miss the mom that loved us all,

I can only imagine when I cross

the veil, to see your face with that

loving grace and hug I will give you,

and forever to know we'll never be apart,

only a beginning, a start,

I miss you Alice more than anyone

will ever know, cause you were my friend,

every month when a holiday comes,

I think of you cause you taught me about

making memories while on earth you were here,

your laughter is missed and gentleness,

you work will go on dear one this I promise so,

cause you were my teacher, the mom I know.

lovingly missing you Mom Alice,

Robin Ann

Alice with her wonderful friends! She is the sweetest lady! We have had the pleasure of knowing Alice for well over 15 years, cause we moved in 1987 to saint petersburg, fla. (Rev. John, Rev. Beverly, Rev. Peggy, and our dear Rev. Alice DeHaven

This was special part of Rev. Beverly DeHaven's Memorial of her dear Mother-In-Law Alice! Rev. Beverly DeHaven officiated the Memorial at Memorial Gardens for family and friends of Alice's.

Mom's Good-bye "ROAR." by Rev. Beverly DeHaven

My mother, Laura Zaleski loved my mother-in-law, Rev. Alice Ann
Amos-DeHaven with a passion.

So, when I was looking through Alice's things, after her house
had been cleared out and the daughters having chosen the things of hers they wanted,
I found a music box. It was a carousel animal, on a pole, but the animal was a grand
and glorious lion...

"Look at me it seemed to roar, look at me and listen to men, for I am Powerful and
I am grand, and I am beautiful,
hear me roar."

I put the music box aside, it was too dear to put in the yard sale...knowing that
this lion would find his rightful place. Then my mother came to visit and that lion (found
his rightful place.) I suggested to her that she take this lion in memory of Alice and she
did.

The next week I had to call my mother and tell her that Alice had passed on the previous
Wednesday...and my mother just exclaimed that she just knew it.

Last Wednesday she was alone in her home, my father had gone golfing. Quietly,
in the deep silence of her rural home she cleaned and dusted and puttered about,
taking pleasure from the peaceful moring...when she heard music. Music? form the other room?
but this was not the radio or the TV or a neighbor...she
walked into the other room and there was the music box, "roaring" away...

My mother looked around...she had remembered the music box needing to be wound up in order
to play...but then she knew. Alice had come to say good-bye to her...
drawn by their deep love for each other and their mutual love for me...Good-bye dear friend,
my mother bowed her head and prayed...

Rev. John's Memorial for Alice DeHaven

Rev. John J. Jobes had Rev. Beverly DeHaven to read (The Song is Ended)  for him as he would have spoken had he been here in Saint Petersburg to read this himself.  Rev. John came to see Alice a few weeks ago from Michigan and

they talked about God and Faith and all the fun they had together as ministers. He loved Alice as we all do in Christ. Rev. John was a long time friend of Alice's along with many of her friends of the church. Alice was a sponsor for him.

Rev. John Jobes said that Alice was all about music and so he was led to send this song to read for this special celebration day in her behalf and yes a joyful celebration of life! The is written by the composer (IRVING BERLIN)

                                       The Song is Ended

THE SONG IS ENDED, BUT THE MELODY LINGERS ON. YOU AND THE SONG ARE GONE, BUT THE MELODY LINGERS ON.

THE NIGHT WS SPLENDID, AND THE MELODY SEEMED TO SAY, " SUMMERS WILL PASS AWAY, TAKE YOUR HAPPINESS WHILE YOU MAY."

THERE NEATH THE LIGHT OF THE MOON, WE SANG A LOVE SONG THAT ENDED TO SOON (ALICE BELIEVED THAT LIFE IN ITSELF WAS A LOVE SONG IN GOD) THE MOON, DESCENDED, AND I FOUND WITH THE BREAK OF DAWN, YOU AND THE SONG HAD GONE, BUT THE MELODY LINGERS ON.

WE ALL HAD SUCH A WONDERFUL TIME TOGETHER AND ALICE TRULY HAD A LOVE AFFAIR WITH LIFE ITSELF IN CHRIST AND ENJOYED ALL THE NATURAL BEAUTY AND THINGS AROUND HER. THIS SONG SEEMS TO FIT HER AS SHE HELPED US ALL DEVELOP THAT LOVE OF LIFE AND PEOPLE AROUND US. THANK-YOU FOR LETTING ME SHARE THIS WITH YOU.

IN CHRIST LOVE,

REVEREND JOHN J. JOBES

You are welcome to send anything else that you want put on this webpage and I will be adding more all along!

For Alice DeHaven's Memorial March 6, 2005

This was Alice's Favorite Scripture in the Bible:

Psalm 98:4 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice and sing praise.

Alice was a friend, a mom, a reverend, and a caring and sharing person.

She would always talk of Carin and Sharin as people! Caring and Sharing with each other. My husband and I met Alice around 1988 and have stayed friends through the years.

Alice would always say make a joyful noise unto the Lord. She was a friend to all and a mom to everyone.

Tuesday I spent the last time with her, and she asked me to lay my head on her shoulder, and I did, I said I love you Alice, and she said I love you Robin, and much more was said...

That was a special time that I will always treasure the rest of my life. I have made a memorial of pictures on this page for her.

The song she loved was Over the Rainbow...well, now Alice is over the rainbow!

Alice was fun and loved to show her southern hospitality to others in her beautiful home and to us through cooking, music playing, and her joyful smile. Again, Make a joyful noise unto the Lord she would say.

She was a special lady and if I leave anything with you today it would be to say she is free, happy and with the Lord and her friends and loved ones that meant so very much to her.

She is whole and she is well! May we rejoice with her for her work is done on earth and remember all that she has taught us to love one another in Christ! Thank-you and God Bless each of you!

This is my writing for Rev. Alice Ann Amos-DeHaven for her memorial.

love you mom, Robin

Marsha, thank-you for sending this, you all mean so much to me!

Rev. John J. Jobes (Johnny) as Alice thought of John as her own son! She would just light up when he would call! REV. JOHN J. JOBES WROTE THIS BELOW IN MEMORY OF DEAR ALICE!

REV. ALICE AND I (REV. JOHN J. JOBES) OR JOHNNY AS SHE PREFERRED TO CALL ME HAD A UNIQUE BOND AS ALICE DID WITH EVERYONE OF HER DEAR FRIENDS. ALICE WAS MY SPONSOR FOR MY MINISTRY AND ORDINATION. I FIRST MET ALICE IN 1993. IN 2001 UPON MY RETURN TO FLORIDA TO GET MY HEALTH CARE AND ALSO CONTINUE MY FINAL STUDIES WITH THE PEOPLE'S CHRISTIAN CHURCH IN THE CLASS OF THE MOST REVEREND LELIA LELAND ALICE AND I BECAME EVEN CLOSER THEN WE HAD EVER BEEN. WE WERE BOTH CHARGED WITH THE "TASK" AND A PLEASANT ONE AT THAT - BY OUR TEACHER REV. LELIA LELAND TO WATCH OUT FOR EACH OTHER AND TAKE CARE OF ONE ANOTHER AS WE BOTH HAD HEALTH ISSUES. IN MY TRAVELS WITH DEAR ALICE WE WERE ALWAYS DOING OUR MINISTRY IN SOME MANNER SHAPE OR FORM AS SHOULD ALL OF GOD'S CHILDREN. ALICE MADE ME REALIZE AS SHE DID ALL THOSE SHE MET AND WHO WERE PRIVILEDGED TO GET TO KNOW HER THAT WHETHER YOU ARE 5 - 55 - OR 155 YOU MUST NEVER LOSE THAT CHILD LIKE QUALITY YOU WERE BORN WITH AS WE ARE ALL CHILDREN OF GOD. TAKE TIME SHE WOULD SAY IN YOUR BUSY DAY TO BE A CHILD AGAIN AND GO FLY A KITE! I ALWAYS THOUGHT THIS WAS A FUNNY EXPRESSION BUT SOON CAME TO REALIZE THAT MY DEAR FREIND AND TEACHER AND ADOPTED MOTHER CARRIED IN THE TRUNK OF HER CAR NEW KITES FROM THE DOLLAR TREE STORE. OFTEN AS WE WERE TOGETHER IN HER VEHICLE GOING HERE AND THERE WHETHER ON CHURCH BUSINESS OR JUST BUMMIN AROUND WE WOULD MEET SOMEONE ALONG THE WAY THAT SEEMED DRAWN TO US AND WOULD ACTUALLY OFFER TO HELP US CARRY THINGS TO THE CAR FROM THE SHOP OR STORE WE HAD BEEN IN. SENSING THE KINDNESS YET THE SERIOUS MOOD OF THE PERSON ALICE WOULD STRIKE UP A CONVERSATION THAT WOULD LIGHTEN THEIR HEART AND THEIR DAY. SHE ALWAYS ENDED WITH SAYING - "NOW CHILD HERE IS A KITE" GO AND TAKE SOME TIME FOR YOURSELF AND FLY THAT KITE AND BE A CHILD AGAIN. ! MANY OF THESE PEOPLE WOULD CONTACT HER LATER AND TELL HER HOW WONDERFUL AN EXPERIENCE THE KITE FLYING HAD BEEN AND HOW RENEWED THEY WERE. THE KITE BECAME A "SYMBOL" FOR ALICE AND I . AFTER RETURNING TO MICHIGAN FROM A TRIP TO FLORIDA TO SEE DEAR ALICE AT THE CARRINGTON HOME WHERE SHE WAS AS HER DAYS ON THE EARTH PLAIN WERE DRAWING TO AN END- I MET WITH MY FAMILY FOR LUNCH THAT AFTERNOON. WE SAT IN A BOOTH AND ALL INQUIRED ABOUT HOW DEAR ALICE WAS DOING. OF COURSE I LET THEM KNOW SHE WAS AT PEACE BUT ALSO AWARE THAT HER TASKS ON THIS PLAIN HAD BEEN COMPLETED. ALICE AND I DISCUSSED THIS DURING MY VISIT AND SHE WAS FINE WITH THIS. I TOLD HER AS I LEFT HER AND TOOK HER HANDS IN MINE THAT I WOULD BE WITH HER IN SPIRIT AND SHE KNEW HOW TO CONTACT ME. SHE SMILED AS DID I EVEN THOUGH THE TEARS WELLED UP IN OUR EYES - SHE SAID I LOVE YOU AND I SAID I LOVE YOU TOO - . NOW DON'T WORRY ABOUT ME I TOLD HER I WILL BE OK AND YOU HAVE TAUGHT ME WELL. OUR EYES MET AS I LEFT THE ROOM AND SAID A QUIET PRAYER FOR HER. UPON COMPLETION OF OUR LUNCH WHICH INCLUDED MYSELF , MY WIFE AND OUR SON WE PREPARED TO LEAVE AS MY WIFE HAD TO RETURN TO WORK. SHE ASKED WHAT IS THIS? BEHIND HER ON THE WINDOW SILL WHERE SHE WAS SEATED WAS A BRAND NEW KITE FROM THE DOLLAR TREE! IT WASN'T THERE WHEN WE SAT DOWN. SHE HANDED IT TO ME AND I GAVE IT TO OUR SON WHO KNEW ALICE AND I TOLD HIM TO KEEP IT AND WHEN OUR GRANDDAUGHTER WAS HERE THIS SUMMER FOR HIM TO FLY THE KITE WITH HER. I FEEL THIS WAS ALICE'S WAY OF TELLING ME SHE WAS ABOUT TO FLY FREE LIKE A KITE AND TO REMIND ME TO KEEP THAT CHILDLIKE QUALITY THAT WE ARE ALL BLESSED WITH BUT SO MANY OF US LOSE ALONG LIFE'S JOURNEY. ALICE CROSSED INTO SPIRIT ONE WEEK AFTER THAT. THE SCRIPTURE SAYS "CHRIST SAID SUFFER THE LITTLE CHILDREN THAT THEY MAY COME UNTO ME - AND ALSO THAT WE MUST COME TO HIM AS A CHILD- AND WE ARE ALL HIS CHILDREN. " THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME SHARE THIS WITH YOU AND YES DEAR ALICE - I WILL KEEP THAT CHILD LIKE QUALITY ALICE WITHIN MYSELF AND CONTINUE TO DO MY MINISTRY ACCORDING TO YOUR EXCELLENT EXAMPLE ! IN LOVE IN CHRIST - REV. JOHN J. JOBES (JOHNNY)

Marsha sent in the other writing about God creating women...:)

Truly Amazing

By the time the Lord made mothers, he was
into his sixth day of working overtime. An
Angel appeared and said, "Why are you
spending so much time on this one?"

And the Lord answered and said,
"Have you seen the spec sheet on her?
She has to completely washable,
but not plastic, have 200 movable parts,
all replaceable, run on black coffee and leftovers,
have a lap that can hold three children
at one time and that disappears when she stands
up, have a kiss that can cure anything from a
scraped knee to a broken heart, and have six
pairs of hands."

The Angel was astounded at the requirements
for this one. "Six pairs of hands! No way!",
said the Angel. The Lord replied, "Oh, it's not
the hands that are the problem. It's the three
pair of eyes that the mothers must have!"

"And that's just the standard model?" asked
the Angel. The Lord nodded in agreement,
"Yep, one pair of eyes are to see through the
closed door as she asks her children what they
are doing, even though she already knows.

Another pair in the back of her head are to see
what she needs to know even though no one
thinks she can. And the third pair are here in
the front of her head. They are for looking at an
errant child and saying that she understands
and loves him or her without even saying a
single word." The Angel tried to stop the Lord.
"This is too much work for one day."

Wait until tomorrow to finish. "But I can't!"
the Lord protested, "I'm so close to finishing this
creation that is so close to my own heart. She
already heals herself when she is sick and can
feed a family of six on one pound of
hamburger and can get a nine year-old
to stand in the shower!"

The Angel moved closer and touched
the woman. "But you have made her so
soft, Lord." "She is soft," the Lord agreed,
"but I have also made her tough. You have no
idea what she can endure or accomplish."

"Will she be able to think?" asked the Angel.
The Lord replied, "Not only will she be able to
think, she will be able to reason, and negotiate."

The Angel then noticed something and
reached out and touched the woman's cheek.
"Oops, it looks like you have a leak with this
model. I told you that you were trying to put
too much into this one." "That's not a leak,"
the Lord objected, "that's a tear!" "What's
the tear for?", the Angel asked. The Lord said,
"The tear is her way of expressing her joy, her
sorrow, her disappointment, her pain, her
loneliness, her grief, and her pride."

The Angel was impressed. "You are a genius,
Lord. You thought of everything. Women
are truly amazing!"

Alice DeHaven

Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there. I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sun on ripened grain.
I am the gentle Autumn rain.

When you awake in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.

Written today on March 3, 2005

Alice is gone now but never forgotten ... our hearts and our love

are ever remembering of her in the Lord. This is where she stayed

for about three weeks before she crossed over to heaven with

Jesus! It is hard to say good-bye to a dear and special lady I loved

called mom, she had me too, I held her in my arms yesterday

and said I love you Alice, she told me she loved me and didn't want

to leave me, I told it was ok, and talked about Jesus with her....

yes, tears are a language as that old song goes...I miss you mom Alice!

Below I have placed a few pictures of her room in the Carrington Home

and please remember us all in prayer...God Bless You!

Judged Not Worthy
==================

A voyaging ship was wrecked during a storm at sea and only two
survivors were able to make it to the shore of a small deserted
island.  With no idea what else to do they agreed they had no
recourse but to pray to God.  However, they were divided as to
whose prayer would be more effectual.  They agreed finally to
divide the island between them and stay each to his own side of
the island.

The first thing they prayed for was food.  The next morning, the
first man saw a fruit-bearing tree on his side of the island,
and thus he ate.  The other man's parcel of the island remained
barren, and thus he remained hungry.

After a couple of days the first man became lonely so he prayed
for a wife.  The next day another ship wrecked and the lone
survivor, a woman swam to his side of the island.  The other man
remained without a companion.

Next, the first man prayed for a house, clothes and more food.
The next day all of these miraculously appeared.  However the
other man still had nothing.

Finally the first man prayed for rescue for he and his wife.
In the morning there was a ship docked on his side of the
island.  He and his wife boarded the ship and left the other man
behind.  As the ship was pulling away from the island a voice
from heaven boomed out,

"Why are you leaving that other man on the island?"

The man replied, "Well, Lord, I figured the blessings I prayed
for were mine, and since apparently none of his prayers were
answered he mustn't be worthy."

The Lord rebuked him saying, "Oh my son you are so mistaken, for
you see he only had one prayer, which I answered fully.  If not
for that you would not have received the richness of blessings
that you have, you owe him everything."

"Tell me", the man asked, "what did he pray for that I should
give him anything?"

The Lord replied,
"He prayed that all of your prayers would be answered."

I SHALL NEVER FORGET THE DAY BEFORE MY SWEET DEAR ALICE PASSED ON TO THE HIGHER SIDE OF LIFE. SHE WAS IN BETWEEN WORLDS, SHE KNEW STILL IT WAS ME HER FRIEND ROBIN, BUT AT TIMES SHE LOOKED THROUGH BE ME WITH HER EYES AND SAW LOVED ONES ON THE OTHER SIDE, SHE WOULD TELL ME LOOK, SHE SAID THEY ARE AT THE DOOR, I SAID I KNOW ALICE, THEY ARE HERE TO HELP YOU, SHE LOOKED AT ME ONCE AND SAID LAY YOUR HEAD ON MY SHOULDER, SO I WENT OVER TO HER BEDSIDE AND GENTLY EVER SO GENTLY HELD DEAR SWEET ALICE, AND I SAID I LOVE YOU ALICE, SHE SAID I LOVE YOU TOO, I DON'T WANT TO LEAVE YOU, I SAID IT IS OK, HIDING MY TEARS ROLLING DOWN MY CHEEKS AS I GENTLY HELD HER IN MY ARMS.SHE PRAYED TO OUR LORD AS I WAS THERE TRUSTING HIM TO HELP HER ALONG HER PATH HOME ETERNALLY. I PRAYED FOR HER ALSO AND FOR THE LORD TO LET HER HAVE AN EASY TRANSITION. THIS IS MY FIRST TIME TO EXPERIENCE SUCH A TREMENDENCE SCENE BY A BEDSIDE OF A LOVED ONE...I KNEW IT WOULDN'T BE LONG TILL SHE WOULD BE GOING HOME. I DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE HER AT ALL. THEN I SAID ALICE I MUST GO HOME, SHE SAID OK...LET ME TELL YOU I CRIED ALL THE WAY HOME BUCKETS OF TEARS, YES YOU KNOW I LOVE THAT LADY CAUSE YES, ALICE WAS A LADY THAT CARED FOR PEOPLE, SHE CARED FOR ME AND LISTENED AND TAUGHT ME SO MUCH. WE WOULD SIT DOWN TO EAT HER HOME COOK MEALS AND WE WOULD HAVE PRAYER...SOMETIMES SHE WOULD SMILE AND SAY "GRACE" :) I KNEW WHAT SHE MEANT! WELL, ALICE MARY STAYED FROM 9PM TO 4AM THE NEXT MORNING. WHEN I AWOKE I CALLED CARRINGTON TO SEE ABOUT ALICE, THAT WAS THE FIRST THING ON MY MIND, THEY SAID SHE WENT TO NORTHSIDE HOSPITAL...WELL I WAS GETTING READY TO GO UP THERE AND CALLED HER DAUGHTER ALICE MARY, WHOM FELT IT WAS BETTER TO WAIT BECAUSE OTHER FAMILY WAS UP THERE, ABOUT 20 MINUTES SHE CALLED ME BACK AND SAID MOM IS GONE. WELL, PRAISE ALICE WAS WITH JESUS AND THE OTHER LOVED ONES ON THE OTHER SIDE...OH, HOW THE GREETING MUST HAVE BEEN! SHE IS NOT DEAD, SHE IS ALIVE AND WELL, AND HAPPY! YES, ALICE IS WHOLE! I WOULDN'T TRADE THAT DAY I SPENT WITH HER INSTEAD OF VOLUNTEERING AS I FELT I NEEDED TO GO, THAT VOICE SAYING JUST GO...I OBEYED AND HAVE MEMORIES I WILL NEVER EVER LET GO! THIS WHOLE PAGE IS DEDICATED TO A WONDERFUL MOTHER THAT I SHALL MISS IN MY LIFE CAUSE SHE CAN'T CALL ME ON THE PHONE AND SAY "COME ON OVER, I HAVE ALL THIS FOOD I FIXED AND SHE CALL AND TELL ME TO COME FOR HOLIDAYS ANYMORE, BUT HEY, SHE LEFT ME WITH ENOUGH LOVE THAT SHALL ALWAYS BE APART OF ALICE, I A WEARING THE LITTLE PRAYER BOX SHE GAVE ME FOR CHRISTMAS AND WILL ALWAYS CAUSE MOM I MISS YOU AND WELL, I KNOW YOU ARE NEAR BUT I WANT TO HUG YOU SOFTLY IN PERSON, BUT HEY, SOON I SHALL FOLLOW AND WHAT A REUNION WE WILL HAVE OVER THERE AGAIN!
